PNC
2006 Annual Conference in Conjunction with
PRDLA
and
ECAI,
held in Seoul National University from August 16~18,
has come to the end of three days of intensive and
fruitful sessions on a variety of topics concerning
digital libraries, digital collections and GIS
related issues. PNC would like to take this
opportunity to extend our heartfelt appreciation to
all speakers for their hard work and to all
participations for their enthusiastic participation
since the first day of the meeting. With all
speakers¡¦ contribution, all participants gained
great insights and shared valuable experiences with
one another.
PNC would like to especially thank the local host,
Seoul National University, for making the conference
possible and complete PNC "Pacific" circle. This
is what makes us a ¡§neighborhood¡¨: our shared
pursuit of the possible. Our neighborhood is defined
less by the spatial contiguity than by our belief in
a symbiotic relationship between the academic and
technical research communities.
This year PNC had one keynote speech delivered by
Prof. Ching-chun Hsieh, Chair Professor, Ming Chuan
University, Taiwan, and 16 sessions in total. The
session formats consisted of oral presentations and
poster demonstrations covering various domains such
as: Digital Archives and Collections (scientific and
cultural), Digital Museums, Digital Preservation,
Digitalization Projects, Cultural Atlases,
e-Publishing, e-Culture, e-Science Application,
Humanity e-Science and Grid Technology, Geospatial
Information System (GIS), Humanity GIS and Korean
Culture. There are over 200 participants from 12
different countries to join this annual conference.
We would like to keep the great experiences this
year and wish to make much progress every year for
bringing PNC members the updated information about
technologies applied to humanities and information
exchanges.
At the end, PNC sincerely invite your participation
to PNC 2007 in UC Berkeley on October 18-20. All
conference-related information and photos will be
posted on PNC web
http://www.PNCLink.org. We are
looking forward to seeing you next year!
